Hi! We're Okta. If you haven't heard of us before, we're an API service that makes user management in your web apps, mobile apps, and API services simples. We make it easy to do things like add user registration, user login, password reset, multi-factor authentication, social login, and more to whatever you're building.
We've teamed up with our good friends at Twilio to throw this hackathon together. If you aren't familiar with Twilio, it's a powerful communications API that allows you to do things like send SMS messages, phone calls, email, and much more.
What's the goal?
Our goal with this hackathon is to get you to experiment with our APIs and build something awesome. We (Okta) have recently released some shiny new API features that we think you'll love (webhooks), and we'd love to see what great applications you can build using our APIs! Using Twilio is a natural choice as well, since, user-facing apps often need communication automation features.
We hope that by using Okta and Twilio in your service, you'll be able to build something quicker, better, and have more fun doing it! <3
What's the challenge?
We want to see you build something real. Something that provides real value to users.
Whether you're building a new blogging platform to compete with Medium or the next Snapchat: we'd love to see you create something that has the potential to run on its own one day.
What's the judging criteria?
We'll be judging submissions based on the following criteria:
- Business Value: does your app provide business value? Can it become self-sustaining?
- Creativity: does this app have interesting and/or unique functionality?
- Polish: is this app polished? Does it have a nice UI, does functionality work as expected, etc?
- Depth of Integration: do you make use of Okta/Twilio APIs in a novel way? Do you use features more complicated than user registration/login?

The only eligibility requirement is that you must work in a group of 5 or fewer people.
