One Week Left + Twilio!
Hey everyone! Randall from Okta here -- thanks again for participating in the Oktane 2019 hackathon challenge! We're only one week out from the submission deadline (which is Sunday, March 31st at 11:45pm PST), so I hope you've had a chance to peek at the Okta APIs and start building something neat!
As a reminder, we're giving out 10k in prizes, so be sure to get your submissions in on time! Judging will be taking place April 1/2nd, and we're going to be announcing the winners on April 2nd at some point late in the day.
Introducing Twilio
Also: I've got some cool news to share. Twilio (the wonderfully amazing communications API) has graciously joined us in hosting this hackathon. If you've never used Twilio's APIs before, they make it really easy to send SMS messages, phone calls, emails, etc.
You might be wondering what this means for this hackathon. In short: nothing bad! The hackathon requirements have not changed--your app still needs to use Okta's API, but you aren't required to use Twilio's API--so if you've already built your app, please don't feel the need to pivot your idea.
Thanks to Twilio's partnership, if you would like to use Twilio in your hackathon app, you can now do so with $100 in free service credits. All you need to do is sign up for a Twilio developer account and use the code OKTANE2019 to redeem your free credits. You will need to provide a valid credit card first, but you will be given $100 in credits so your card will not be charged.
If you do end up using Twilio's APIs in your submission, that will be taken into consideration during judging, but again: is not required.
Thanks so much for participating in the Oktane hackathon! Looking forward to seeing what you've built!
-Randall
